What do I need to do to keep my hot water tank running smoothly?


Every 6 months you need to pull the "tab" on your pressure relief value. Water will flow from the value, you should gently allow the lever to return to stop the flow. If it is hard to open do not force it as this could damage the valve. If you do damage the valve it will need to be replaced.

If the water continues to run it also means the valve is faulty and will need to be replaced.

The purpose of this valve is to release the pressure in the tank to prevent the tank from exploding.

What happens if I allow my tap to continue dripping?


This can cause a few problems, if your tap continues to drip the water will corrode a track in your tap "seat" (this is where your tap sits). If the drip is bad enough we might need to replace the seat which will mean removing a part of the wall. Continuous dripping can cause staining on baths and basin bowls which can be very hard to remove.

A quick tap service can prevent all this and will increase the life of the taps and seats and maintain their appearance.




Should I use Draino or drain crystals to unblock my drain?


If these are not used correctly they can damage to the point of replacement of your drain and its fitting. These products are also very corrosive to your lungs and skin. If you wish to use these products, be sure to follow the instructions correct and use the correct personal protective equipment.

If your drain is blocked, there is usually a fair reason for it, including, but not limited to the following:

- tree roots

- broken pipes

- poor toilet set up
